Local Ocean: Built to Last

Local Ocean has always been more than a plate of fish and chips.

It’s a place of pride on the Oregon coast—where locals bring the people they love, and visitors make a point not to miss when they come to town. It’s a working waterfront ally and a reflection of Oregon’s coastal values. We work hard, buy local, share success, and take care of the people who take care of us—our staff, our fishers, and the coast we depend on.

Founded 20 years ago by Laura Anderson and a local fisherman Al Pazar, we are now owned and stewarded by a purpose-led Stewardship Trust. Ownership can change, but values should not.  The Trust exists to protect the purpose of the business for the long term, and to ensure the company is always operated with integrity.

That stewardship model makes something new possible.

After two years of Trust ownership, we’re ready to invite our customers and community into the circle in a way we never have before. Beginning in late Spring 2026, the Trust will open a new chapter—inviting a small circle of founders to help shape the next era of Local Ocean through deeper engagement, curated experiences, and shared responsibility for the future of this place.

We’re not announcing details yet.
But we are quietly gathering the people who care enough to be part of what comes next.

If you’re an Oregon-based ocean enthusiast who cares about values-led businesses and strong coastal communities, we invite you to stay connected. Transparency builds trust. Trust builds staying power. And staying power is how Local Ocean plans to serve this coast for the long haul.

We are building this next chapter slowly and intentionally, with people who care deeply about the Oregon coast, local food systems, and values-led business.
