Fall on the Oregon coast brings strong winds, big swells, and a lot of boats tied up at the docks. The shrimp, tuna and salmon fleets have pulled their gear and many fishermen take a break before starting to rig crab pots for the upcoming Dungeness crab season.
Here at Local Ocean we are taking a break too – our whole staff is getting one week of paid vacation. So, from October 31 through November 7th we will be closed. As the owner of Local Ocean it thrills me to be able to extend paid vacation to all our hard working employees (and believe me, they’ve earned it!), so they can rest, recharge, and spend time with their families.
There’s a lot to look forward to once we return on November 8th – our awesome Thanksgiving DockBox is back again and available for pre-order on the website. This year, you can get your Dungeness crab-stuffed Halibut meal shipped directly to your door! Plus, we will be debuting a new special dish in the restaurant: Chef Enrique has created a beautiful Smoked Black Cod Ramen with fresh local noodles from Eatwell Organic Noodle in Florence. I have been fantasizing about this dish for several years, and now my ramen dreams are coming true. There will be other new menu items, but I won’t spoil all the surprises. Just come by and taste for yourself.
